The Ultima Guide to Christmas

Ultima Collection knows how to do a Christmas holiday. Twinkling festive lights, show-worthy menus, and snow falling outside whilst a fire is crackling; nothing compares to Christmas with Ultima. Especially when spent in our exclusive destinations. Each resort takes on a new look when the festive season approaches, and brings with it an abundance of events and holiday traditions.

Christmas in Gstaad
If you like your Christmas filled with shopping, skiing and fine dining, Gstaad is the place to be. Especially when staying at Ultima Gstaad. Spend your days browsing the festive shop displays, indulging in Michelin-starred menus and watching the events that ensure a happy holiday. Be sure to head to the centre and watch Santa Claus as he walks from the Posthotel Rössli, the oldest hotel in town, to the chapel.

Christmas in Courchevel
Our favourite Christmas holiday celebration is watching the Torchlit Descent down the Saulire piste on Christmas Eve. This is a magical show and will definitely build excitement for Christmas Day at Ultima Courchevel Belvédère. Plus, Father Christmas sledges through all the towns of Courchevel on Christmas Eve, so you may catch a glimpse of him from your private residence. The highlight of Christmas Day is certainly the Katchalene hosted in Courchevel 1650 with incredible performers, excellent music and magic!

Christmas in Megève
Megève gets into the festive mood from the moment the winter season starts, marked by the traditional Fir Tree Lighting festival. The evening has a few holiday traditions, one of which is to hold your breath during the countdown until the tree is sparking with 1,000 lights. And every year, Megève hosts a magical Christmas parade, where Santa will make his way through the village, and hand out some presents to the children waiting.  And what is Christmas without reindeer - you can pet these cute and cuddly animals at the nearby farm, with Christmas treats along the way.

Christmas in Crans-Montana
The Festival of Lights is a fantastic event in Crans-Montana during both the Christmas holiday and the New Year holiday. There is a delightful kilometre-long magical lantern path through the woods, a big Ferris wheel overlooking the Alps, and a food and crafts market that is open in the evening, with shows focusing on fire and light. And the culinary offerings are exceptional - chefs and winemakers from 10 local chalets serve up Michelin-starred food and wine pairings are on offer too.

Whether you are celebrating with family or friends, want to create new traditions or bring yours to us, make Christmas an Ultima one. One you will never forget.
