With beautiful parades followed by fireworks and feasting, Corfu knows how to celebrate. August is the month for village festivals (or panigiri) across Corfu. There are events in full swing every week during the sunny Ionian summer, from charming village festivities to bigger celebrations in the larger towns.
Some of the larger festivals include the International Dancing Festival, held in Sinies each July, Saint Spryriodons Day on the 11th of August and The Varkarola, which includes the recreation of a nautical battle, in mid-August. Every village has at least 3-4 per year, so with more than 200 villages on the island there are local festivals and celebrations almost daily.
